The Ottawa Farmer’s Market in Byron Park in Westboro

The Ottawa Farmers’ Market is back for its third season in Westboro. Located along the beautiful walking path of the Byron Linear Park, between Golden, Richmond and Byron Avenues, the Westboro is growing with more than 65 vendors.
The Heart of Orléans Market

The Heart of Orléans BIA has created a weekly market featuring vendors who “grow it, make it, or bake it”. We hope you will share our in enthusiasm and help make it a success!
The Ottawa Parkdale Market
Established in July of 1924. Every year, from the months of April to October, Parkdale Market vendors offer fresh produce, flowers, plants and shrubs to area residents seven days a week. A great variety of exciting products such as goat cheese, organic veggies and mushrooms, frozen meats (lamb, beef, veal, red deer, wild boar), eggs, honey and apple derivatives.

The Market Gardener by Jean-Martin Fortier
Les Jardins de la Grelinette is a micro-farm located in Eastern Quebec, just north of the American border. Growing on just 1.5 acres, owners Jean-Martin and Maude-Helene feed more than 200 families through their thriving CSA and seasonal market stands and supply their signature mesclun salad mix to dozens of local establishments. The secret of their success is the low-tech, high-yield production methods they’ve developed by focusing on growing better rather than growing bigger, making their operation more lucrative and viable in the process.
Tourne-Sol Cooperative Farm
Tourne-Sol co-operative farm is a workers cooperative run by 5 young farmers just west of Montreal. They grow certified organic vegetables, herbs, flowers, herbal teas and are celebrating their 10th anniversary of organic seed production. Daniel Brisebois and Frederic Theriault co-authored the book Crop Planning for Organic Vegetable Growers.

Canadian Organic Growers
COG’s membership is diverse and includes farmers, gardeners, processors, retailers, educators, policy-makers, and consumers. Not all COG members run certified organic operations, but they share a vision for a sustainable bioregionally-based organic food system. Our members believe that organic food production is the best choice for the health of consumers and producers, for the protection and enhancement of the environment, and for the sustainability of the food production system. In fact we believe that the survival of our country and even of the planet depends on it.
JustFood
Just Food is a grassroots, non-profit organization that includes staff, volunteers, community partners, members and founders. They are the brain trust behind many of the more interesting initiatives around food such as Savour Ottawa, of which I am a member.
